Ala. man appeals to keep wife in front yard grave

STEVENSON, Ala. (AP) — A north Alabama man is appealing to keep his wife buried in the front yard of his home in downtown Stevenson.

Attorneys for James Davis say they filed a motion Monday asking a court to let his wife’s body remain in his yard until a state appeals court reviews the case.

WAFF-TV reports that a judge on Friday refused to overturn a previous decision that ordered the removal of Patsy Davis’ remains.

Davis buried his wife at their home after she died in 2009, saying it was her dying wish to be remain there. The city sued Davis to have her removed, and the judge ruled in favor of the city.

Davis’ attorney says he plans to take the case to the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals.
