COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A special effect designed to close a new television show is being blamed for the death of a 51-year-old woman at an El Paso County shooting range.
Range owner Melvin Bernstein tells the Colorado Springs Gazette (http://bit.ly/Nro4Is ) the victim was his wife, Terry Flanell.
Bernstein said he, Flanell and three other family members were on the range as crews filmed them walking through a haze of smoke Thursday evening. He said the smoke bombs used for the show detonated, flying through the air like rockets. He described the projectiles as pipes that were several inches long.
The film company was not identified.
Bernstein says one person was burned Wednesday in association with filming at the range.
