NTSB to meet on Jackson Hole runway mishap

The National Transportation Safety Board is meeting Tuesday to determine what might have caused an American Airlines passenger jet out of Chicago to go off the end of the runway at Jackson Hole Airport in Jackson, Wyo., in late 2010 — and to discuss any recommendations to prevent anything like that from happening again.

The plane took off from Chicago and landed at the airport on Dec. 29, 2010.

After landing, the plane kept going past the end of the runway until it plowed into deep snow.

The plane sustained minor damage. Nobody among the 185 passengers and crew on board was hurt.
