100 years ago
Ten or more persons were injured, two seriously, and 30 more were badly shaken up when two eastbound trains of the Humboldt Park branch of the Metropolitan Elevated collided at a switch. The crash occurred about 100 yards west of the Ballou Street Station at 7:15 a.m. today. This is said to be the fifth accident at this switch within the past seven years. 75 years ago
Three bandits raided the third floor offices of Henrici's restaurant in the Loop at 9 a.m. today.
The bandits forced three girl employees and the assistant manager to lie down on the floor. They then escaped with $3,000.
