Blago vs. 'Speidi' in Costa Rica?

April 19, 2009

Forget Brangelina or TomKat.

If former Gov. Rod Blagojevich is granted permission in federal court to travel to Costa Rica to compete on the NBC reality show "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here," he may be tussling with "Speidi," the bratty, bickering blond couple from MTV's "The Hills."

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton is reporting that the shamelessly fame-seeking duo -- real names Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag -- are among the 10 contestants appearing on the NBC version of the British reality show.

Hilton also listed talk show host Geraldo Rivera, former supermodel Janice Dickinson, "American Idol" reject Sanjaya Malakar and Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman as other likely contestants.

Dickinson was on the British version in 2007, placing second, Hilton writes.

Blagojevich is expected to ask U.S. District Judge James Zagel for permission to travel outside the country to appear on the show, scheduled to air beginning June 1.

He could reportedly be paid up to $80,000 an episode. Sources close to the ex-governor previously told the Sun-Times he wants to do the show to bring in some cash.
