Two suburban women die after shoveling snow

Two older suburban women — including one in her late 70s — collapsed and later died after shoveling snow.
Florence Erickson, 77, of Des Plaines, fell while shoveling outside her home on Thursday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Joan Lilek, 64, of Oak Lawn, became unresponsive Thursday while clearing snow on her property, the medical examiner’s office said.
Autopsies for both women are planned for Saturday.
