In addition to the weather slowing down travel Friday morning, trains on the CTA’s Red Line on the Near North Side were delayed because of an apparent fire in a garbage can in a subway station.
CTA Red Line trains were operating with minor delays about 8:40 a.m. because of fire department activity at the Clark/Division station, according to a CTA rider alert.
According to unconfirmed dispatch reports, firefighters were responding to a fire in a garbage can at the station.
