Police: Man fatally shot on South Side

A man was shot and killed late Tuesday in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

The man was shot about 11:45 p.m. in the 8400 block of South Peoria Street, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

He was shot multiple times in the torso and thigh, police said.

The man, 18, was pronounced dead at 12:45 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

He remained unidentified Wednesday morning because his family had not been notified, according to the medical examiner’s office.

No one was in custody early Wednesday.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
