CTA may build wall at Chinatown stop
The CTA is considering erecting a barrier wall in front of the Red Line's Cermak-Chinatown station to prevent the type of accident that took two lives last week.
"We're looking at that as a part of rebuilding that particular station," CTA President Ron Huberman said Wednesday.
Two women were killed and 21 others were injured Friday when a semi-truck struck the CTA station during evening rush-hour.
The truck made it into the station, severely damaging an escalator and stairwell.
It's not clear yet when that part of the station will be repaired.
Funeral services will be held today for Elosia Guerrero, one of the victims. Her service is set for 10 a.m. at St. Agnes of Bohemia Church, formerly known as Blessed Agnes, at 2651 S. Central Park, followed by burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
A wake is planned for 9:30 a.m. Friday for Delisia Brown, the other victim of the crash, at Gatling's Chapel, 10133 S. Halsted, with a service there immediately afterward.
