Two patrons of a West Town restaurant were injured when a cab crashed through its window, possibly because of the rainy pavement Thursday morning.

The cab crashed through the plate glass window at the Prasino restaurant at 1846 W. Division St., and hurt two patrons inside, a Shakespeare District police lieutenant.

“At the time we had three or four people dining in the dining room when all of a sudden this cab came right through the window,’’ said Prasino accountant Jessica Lee.

“The cab hit the booths and the tables where the people were sitting,’’ Lee said.

It happened at 10:15 a.m. and injured two people, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The westbound taxi went out of control, possibly because of wet pavement, according to the lieutenant.

One person was taken in good condition to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.

Lee said there were two passengers in the taxi that also may have been injured.

“The whole dining room is surrounded by windows,’’ Lee said. “The whole wall is made out of six or seven windows and two or three of them are totally shattered.’”

“Right now we have a big hole in our restaurant,’’ said Lee, who said the eatery opens at 8 a.m. serves organic food.

Lee said police were interviewing the man driving the taxi.
