U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. said Saturday he will be “vindicated” in a U.S. House ethics probe into whether he offered campaign cash to former Gov. Rod Blagojevich in exchange for an appointment to Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat.
His comments came two days after the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Robert Blagojevich, the ex-governor’s brother and former fund-raising chief, sent letters offering to testify about Jackson before U.S. House Committee on Ethics.
Jackson addressed the probe at a dinner for the Kankakee County NAACP. “You’ve seen the news reports regarding the ongoing investigation. Let me be clear. I believe in the American system of justice,” Jackson said, according to his spokesman. “The process is continuing, and in the end I believe I will be vindicated.”
