Trains on the Metra Electric District line are moving again after service was briefly halted Wednesday morning to investigate a “suspicious object” at a South Side station.
Metra spokesman Tom Miller says emergency officials first responded about 7:20 a.m. on reports of a “suspicious object” and continue to investigate Wednesday morning.
All inbound and outbound trains were temporarily halted because of police activity near the 51st Street station, but are moving again as of about 7:30 a.m., according to the Metra website. Trains are operating about 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule, the website said.
Miller did not immediately have further details on the object.
