SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE October 17, 2011 7:12AM
The Red, Purple and Yellow lines were delayed about 15 minutes Monday morning because someone slipped and fell on the tracks.
CTA spokeswoman Kim Myles said about 5:47 a.m., an unathorized person was reported near the northbound tracks on the Red Line near the Howard station and power was cut from the Thorndale to Howard stations as crews responded. She said the person was not hit and did not make contact with the third rail. The train was delayed about 15 minutes, she said.
Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said police and fire responded to a call of a male who had slipped and fallen on the tracks about 6 a.m. near the Howard station and that power was temporarily shut off.
Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva said the person -- he did not know his age or gender -- was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston in fair-to-serious condition
