Two crashes, both involving “serious personal injuries” have tied up traffic on I-55 in the Joliet area Tuesday morning.
“There are two different crashes,” about two miles apart, an Illinois State Police Joliet District sergeant said.
One involved a semi truck and a pickup truck at milepost 242 on I-55, the sergeant said. This involved “serious personal injury.” As of about 9:20 a.m. emergency personnel were working to extricate a victim and it was unknown how long it would take to clear this accident.
On I-55 northbound about two miles from that crash “all lanes are blocked” because of a crash that involved “at least 10 vehicles,” the sergeant said. This accident also involved serious personal injury, and it was unknown how long it would take to clear the scene and before traffic could once again get moving.
