Firefighters battled an extra-alarm fire at a bakery in the Northwest Side Avondale for more than three hours on Monday.

A still-and-box alarm was called about 9:20 a.m. at the Pasieka Bakery, 3056 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to Fire Media Affairs. A second alarm was called just before 10 a.m.

Firefighters were fighting the blaze defensively and heavy smoke was found throughout the buiding, the department said. Heavy fire was found on both floors, which includes an apartment on the second floor.

The fire was struck out about 12:45 p.m. and no information on injuries was available.
