A bomb threat received by Metra officials early Monday in the Loop was unfounded, police said.
A man called in the threat to Metra police Monday morning and said some type of bomb was planted near Madison Street and Wacker Drive, police News Affairs Officer Jon Mirabelli said.
About 6:45 a.m., Metra police and Chicago police responded to the intersection, which is near the Ogilvie Transportation Center, Mirabelli said.
Metra spokesman Tom Miller said neither the Transportation Center nor Metra service was disrupted.
The threat was cleared at 8:48 a.m., police said. No suspicious package was found and the bomb threat was deemed unfounded.
