Autopsy: Man found dead on baseball field was assaulted

A man found dead on a North Side baseball field suffered head trauma from an assault and his death has been ruled a homicide, according to results of a Friday autopsy.
The unidentified body was found on a baseball diamond in the 4500 block of North Clarendon Avenue about noon Thursday, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.
A black man in his 30s, the victim died of craniocerebral injuries, blunt force head trauma and assault, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
A Town Hall District police captain said a citizen discovered the body and called police.
Chicago Park District spokeswoman Jessica Maxey-Faulkner said she was informed that a body had been found at Clarendon Park, but did not have additional information.
Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
