Neighbors testify in Will County disappearances

January 4, 2008

A Will County grand jury probing the disappearances of two Will County women and the death of a third heard testimony Thursday from neighbors of all three women.

The grand jury is hearing closed-door testimony concerning the 2007 disappearances of Plainfield resident Lisa Stebic and Bolingbrook resident Stacy Peterson, as well as the 2004 drowning death of Kathleen Savio, another Bolingbrook resident formerly married to Peterson's husband, ex-cop Drew Peterson.

Stacy Peterson's neighbor, Sharon Bychowski, spent an hour testifying before the grand jury, but wouldn't comment on the information she was asked to provide. Lisa Stebic's neighbor, Laurrie Bingenheimer, said she was quizzed about whether she heard or saw anything unusual on April 30, the day Stebic vanished.

No one has been charged in either woman's disappearance, or in Savio's death, which originally was ruled accidental but is being reexamined in the wake of Stacy Peterson's Oct. 30 disappearance.
