Oprah dubs Obama 'favorite guy'

September 26, 2006

Oprah Winfrey said on Monday's "Larry King Live" that she liked Sen. Barack Obama for president, dubbing him her "favorite guy."

Winfrey, asked about a Kansas City man who is trying to promote her for president, advised him to get behind Obama, her fellow Chicagoan.

"Take your energy and put it in Barack Obama. That's what I would say," Winfrey said, according to an advance transcript.

"Is that your favorite?" King asked. "That would be my favorite guy," she responded.

The talk show host was the latest person to endorse Obama.

State comptroller Dan Hynes, a fellow Democrat whom Obama trounced in the 2004 primary election, said this month that the country hungers for the senator's leadership. Actress Halle Berry told the Philadelphia Daily News that she loved what Obama stands for. "I'll do whatever he says to do. I'll collect paper cups off the ground to make his pathway clear," she said this year.

Obama has repeatedly said he has no plans to run for president.
