Now you can lie in bed, just like Brian Wilson did. Or, rather, just where Brian Wilson did.

The catch is it’ll cost you $1.5 million.

Wilson, the iconic songwriter, performer and musician who helped found The Beach Boys, lived in St. Charles for a while. He sold his house on Crane Road in 2001, but the home is for sale again.

It has five bedrooms, including two master bedroom suites, six full bathrooms and two half baths — and is listed for $1.49 million. It also includes a pool, and a full recording studio where Wilson recorded most of his 1998 “Imagination” album.

Realtor Betty Theisen-Placek said the most recent owner is a businessman who is moving back to Russia. He changed the house a little since Wilson lived there.

But it still where Wilson moved so he and his wife could live next door to fellow musician Jim Peterik, of Ides of March fame, and his wife. And it’s the same place the likes of Paul McCartney, Sean Lennon and Joe Walsh spent some time.

“It’s a little bit of music history,” Theisen-Placek said.

She said while the home has received national media attention, she’s had no actual calls from interested buyers. The house is rented at the moment.

Wilson actually in town last week playing a concert at the Arcada Theater in downtown St. Charles. He’s now touring Europe, but Theisen-Placek said she has heard the musician has “shown some interest” in moving back to the area.

Could he buy his old house back?

“You never know,” she said with a chuckle.
