Giant Slide sold but will remain at Illinois State Fair

The 40-foot-tall, 130-foot-long Giant Slide that’s been a staple of the Illinois State Fair since 1968 has been sold but will remain at the fair. Dennis Herrington, who’s owned the slide since 1995 and put it up for sale last month. said the winning bidder is someone local whom he would not name but who he said plans to keep operating the attraction at the fairgrounds. —
