MOUNT ZION, Ill. (AP) — School officials and police are trying to figure out whether a senior prank might be behind the slashing of tires on 26 school buses in a central Illinois town.
Mount Zion School District Superintendent Darbe Brinkoetter says students who took buses to school were delayed by two hours Tuesday morning after bus drivers found their tires flattened. All but three of the buses parked behind the local high school had flat tires.
Brinkoetter told the (Decatur) Herald & Review that a prank is one possibility. But neither she nor police are sure. There aren’t any suspects yet.
All of the buses were fixed by the end of the school day but two student field trips were canceled.
