The Chicago Sun-Times will be the official media sponsor of the 2011 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
Our newspaper and website (sun times.com) will offer extended coverage and exclusive stories on the 34th annual marathon — which will be run Sunday, Oct. 9 — including a Commemorative Results Section and a list of all finishers’ names and times under 6 hours, 30 minutes. The Chicago Marathon is the largest spectator sporting event in the city, with more than 1.7 million viewers along the course.
The event brings together more than 45,000 runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries to run through 29 city neighborhoods.
The sponsorship continues the Sun-Times’ support of Bank of America running events, including the 2010 and 2011 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle races.
“The Chicago Marathon is a world-class event that showcases Chicago’s great communities and its people, and we’re proud to be a part of it,” said Matthew Saleski, vice president of marketing and business development for Sun-Times Media. “We’re looking forward to working with Bank of America and all of the sponsors to make the Chicago Marathon an exciting event for the runners and spectators.”
