Gary’s main library closing

It boasted the latest in library design when it opened in 1964, but by the end of the year the city’s main library will close.
The Gary Library Board this week voted to close the main library on 5th Avenue and the Tolleston branch in what officials said was their best economic option.
“The other four options would have required us to close all of the branches but the main branch,” board President Tony Walker said.
