Woman charged in South Side hit and run
Bond was set at $100,000 Saturday for a woman accused of driving her car onto the sidewalk near 69th and State and striking a woman waiting for a bus — then fleeing on foot Wednesday, police said. Tyreesha Fraley, 21, of the 6500 block of South Claremont, faced multiple criminal charges, police said. The 58-year-old woman who was hit had her leg amputated and suffered other injuries, police said. After the crash, Fraley and a female passenger fled west to the CTA station at 69th and the Dan Ryan, police said. Fraley was arrested after a community alert was issued and she was identified, police said.
Man shot to death
A 31-year-old man was fatally shot in the head during a fight with several other men on a South Side street Saturday afternoon. Lorenzo Beck, of the 6200 block of South St. Lawrence, was on the street in the 5900 block of South Laflin at 3:50 p.m. when he began arguing with several other men, police said. One of the men took out a gun and shot Beck in the head, police said. The men fled north on Laflin in a blue Chrysler 300, police said. No one was in custody Saturday night.
Man charged with felony in impaired-driving case
A Gary man was charged with impaired driving and possession of marijuana after police stopped him when he was driving his pregnant girlfriend to a doctor’s appointment, police said. Niko Donald, 21, was arrested at 11:50 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 20 near Willowcreek Road in Portage after he was seen driving erratically, police said. The impaired driving charge is a felony because a 2-year-old child also was in the car, police said. He also was ticketed for driving with a suspended license.
