SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE
A bicyclist who died Monday night following a South Side hit-and-run crash has been identified, officials said. Police are seeking a semi truck in connection with the fatal crash.
A city snowplow driver called 911 about 6 p.m. after he saw a man lying in the 300 block of West Pershing Road, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.
Robert Felice, 65, was discovered in the eastbound lanes with a heavily damaged bicycle, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.
On Wednesday, police announced they are looking for a semi truck with a tanker and red extended cab that was last seen speeding eastbound on Pershing Road about the time the man would have been struck.
Felice was pronounced dead at 6:29 p.m. Monday at University of Illinois Medical Center, according to the medical examiner’s office. A Tuesday autopsy found that he died of multiple injuries from a motor vehicle striking a bicycle and his death was ruled an accident.
