The CTA has rehired or is in the process of rehiring half of the nearly 1,000 union workers it laid off in February, CTA President Richard Rodriguez said.
The agency has already re-hired about 400 workers to replace people who retired or left due to other reasons since February. About 90 more will be rehired in the next few weeks.
The CTA laid off 1,057 mostly union workers in February when it cut bus and rail service to balance its budget. Non-union workers have not been rehired.
