Cold prompts early shutdown of Buckingham Fountain

The Buckingham Fountain was closed for the season Thursday - three days early - because of the drop in temperature.

The water was to have been shut off for the year Sunday, but it happened early, according to the Chicago Park District, "to prevent the aging pipes from potentially freezing."
