Purple Line train derails leaving Howard station

A CTA Purple Line train derailed Friday evening in the North Side Rogers Park neighborhood.

The northbound train was leaving the Howard station about 6:05 p.m. when it experienced a “minor derailment,” according to CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski.

Alternative bus service has been implemented between the Howard and Linden stations for northbound riders, Hosinksi said. Southbound Purple Line trains are still operating with delays.

No injuries were reported in the derailment, Hosinski said.
