2 University of Chicago professors named to receive honor from India’s president

Twp University of Chicago professors have been named the winners of the Padma Bhushan Award, recognizing distinguished service of a high order to India.

Susan Rudolph and Lloyd Rudolph will receive the award this spring from India President Pranab Mukkerjee at a ceremony in Rajasthan.

The Rudolphs, who joined the university’s political science department in 1964, are the authors of a three-volume collection of writings titled “Explaining Indian Democracy: A Fifty-Year Perspective,” published in 2008.
