One person was hospitalized and at least 15 others were displaced from their homes after an apartment fire Wednesday night in southwest suburban Bridgeview.
Emergency crews responded about 11:50 p.m. to the blaze that started in a first-floor unit of an apartment building in the 9000 block of South Harlem, Bridgeview Fire Department Battalion Chief Dave Lis said.
Firefighters rescued one family trapped in the unit, and the fire was struck out by 12:30 a.m., Lis said.
One person was taken to an area hospital in stable condition for smoke inhalation, and at least 15 people displaced by the fire were put up at local hotels early Thursday, Lis said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
