Updated: January 23, 2014 12:20AM

A person was killed when a Metra train struck a vehicle Wednesday in north suburban Round Lake.

Milwaukee District / North Line train No. 2129 struck the vehicle about 6 p.m., Metra spokesman Tom Miller said.

The vehicle may have gone around downed crossing gates, and at least one person was reported killed, Miller said, citing preliminary information.

Round Lake Police remain at the site of the crash near Route 134 and Porter Drive just before p.m., a dispatcher said.

Initially all outbound trains between Chicago and Fox Lake remain stopped, and the train involved were delayed between 45 minutes to an hour-plus, Metra’s website said.

By mid-evening, the train scheduled was back on track.
