Four people — including a 13-year-old boy — were struck by vehicles and seriously wounded Monday evening in separate incidents on the South and West Sides.
About 7:05 p.m., the boy was hit by a vehicle while he was crossing the street near Pulaski and Congress, authorities said. He was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. The driver of the vehicle left the scene, heading south on Pulaski, police said.
Three people — a man and two women — were crossing the street at a crosswalk about 5:50 p.m., when they were struck by a vehicle traveling southbound about in the 3400 block of South State Street, police said. The crosswalk is near the Illinois Institute of Technology campus.
The 32-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were taken in serious-to-critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva said. Another 19-year-old woman was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Stroger Hospital.
