At least seven people were injured in a four-car crash early Thursday in the West Town neighborhood on the North Side, and one of the drivers is in police custody.
About 1:30 a.m., a 29-year-old man was driving eastbound in the 1500 block of West Chicago “at a high rate of speed” when it rear-ended another car and caused a domino-effect crash, damaging two more cars, police said.
Seven people were transported to area hospitals, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva said.
Four people were in serious-to-critical condition, one person was listed as stable and two others were in good condition, Roccasalva said.
The driver of the speeding car was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he is in police custody, police said. His condition was not immediately known Thursday morning.
Charges are pending, police said.
