Man fatally shot in Garfield Park

A man was shot and killed early Wednesday in the Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 1:25 a.m. found the 27-year-old man lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head in the 3900 block of West Congress Parkway, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:41 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. The man’s name was withheld Wednesday morning pending notification of his family.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
