Service resumes after Yellow Line train derailment in Rogers Park

Updated: January 8, 2014 10:00AM

CTA Yellow Line service has resumed after a train derailed Tuesday afternoon in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.

The early afternoon derailment triggered a suspension of Yellow Line service and Red Line delays just as the evening rush hour began. But by 5:25 p.m. the Yellow Line was back on track, a CTA spokeswoman said.

The southbound train derailed while approaching the Howard station at 7519 N. Paulina St. about 2:10 p.m., according to CTA spokesperson Catherine Hosinki.

Passengers were assisted off the train after the derailment, and no injuries were reported.

It was unclear whether the derailment was weather related.
