None hurt in extra-alarm fire in Kenwood high-rise

Firefighters extinguished an extra-alarm blaze in a high rise in the South Side Kenwood neighborhood Friday evening.

Crews responded about 8:20 p.m. to the fire in a 17-story high rise in the 900 block of East 47th Street, according to Fire Media Affairs.

As of 8:45 p.m., crews have extinguished the fire, which started in a 15th-floor apartment, Fire Media Affairs said.

No one was injured and crews remain at the scene to ventilate the building.
