Teen dies day after Little Village shooting

A 16-year-old boy died Thursday night after being shot in the head Wednesday about two blocks from his Little Village home.

Christopher Ramirez was shot about 10:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of South Trumbull Avenue, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

The teen was walking when a male exited the passenger side of a van and fired several shots at him, striking him in the head, police said. The suspect then reentered the passenger side of the van and fled the scene.

Ramirez, of the 2800 block of South Trumbull, was pronounced dead at 8:39 p.m. Thursday at Mount Sinai Hospital, the medical examiner’s office said.

The shooting occurred less than a block away from Little Village Hispanic Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
