A DuPage County Jail inmate will be married the same day he’s sentenced in a deadly crash that occurred while he was driving under the influence.
Karlos Leath will be sentenced Dec. 12 by DuPage County Judge Blanche Hill Fawell, who also will officiate at his wedding.
Leath, 32, of Warrenville, faces up to eight years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to aggravated driving under the influence.
Leath was giving his 18-year-old neighbor Stephanie Pickett a ride home April 25 in his sport-utility vehicle when he crashed near Wheaton, killing her.
Leath had a blood-alcohol level of 0.135 percent — anyone driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 percent or higher is presumed to be driving drunk, under Illinois law.
