Two women were injured, one badly, when three dogs attacked them around 6:30 p.m. Friday evening on the South Side.

A 64-year-old woman was walking her dog in the 8700 block of South Cregier when three other dogs attacked her and her dog, which was killed, according to the police, who said the woman was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

The owner of the other dogs, a 23-year-old woman, also was bitten during the frenzy and taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, authorities said.

The three dogs were taken by the Department of Animal Care and Control, and their owner will be cited, police said.
