One man was killed and at least eight people have been wounded across the city since Friday afternoon.
Lionel Johnson, 29, of the 4300 block of West Jackson Boulevard, was seriously injured in a shooting early Sunday in the West Side Austin neighborhood and died hours later, authorities said. He was walking with acquaintances when he was shot in the chest in a gas station parking lot in the 300 block of South Cicero after 2 a.m., Chicago Police said. He was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 5 a.m., police said.
In the most recent nonfatal shooting, a 28-year-old man was shot in the leg and buttocks just before 7 p.m. Sunday in the first block of West 105th Street in the Roseland neighborhood, police said. His condition was not yet known.
About 3 a.m. Sunday, a 27-year-old man was shot while driving under the Kennedy Expy. in the 2100 block of West Fullerton in the Logan Square neighborhood, police said. He continued driving to the 8900 block of Indiana, where he notified police. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
About 12:30 a.m. Sunday, a 23-year-old woman was shot in the back as she stood outside at State and 102nd Place in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
About 5 a.m. Saturday, a 24-year-old man was shot in the right ankle while walking on the sidewalk at Madison and Central in the Austin neighborhood. He was taken in good condition to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.
About 4:50 a.m. Saturday, a man in his 20s was shot in the 1200 block of North Harding in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.
About 2 a.m. Saturday, a 21-year-old man was shot several times in the leg while walking in the 300 block of North Central. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
About 10:50 p.m. Friday, a 24-year-old man was on the sidewalk in the 3300 block of North Whipple when somebody in a passing dark-color SUV fired at him, police said. He was shot in the right arm and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, police said.
About 9 p.m. Friday, a 26-year-old man was shot in the 1500 block of East 61st in the Woodlawn neighborhood, police said. He was listed in good condition at Mount Sinai with a gunshot wound to the buttocks, police said.
No one was in custody in any of the shootings. Area detectives were investigating.
