Several Metra rail crossings in northwest suburban Niles will be closed for lengthy durations in October as crews repairs the tracks, officials said.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, the crossing near Touhy and Lehigh avenues will be closed for nine days, Niles village officials said in a new release.
Detour signs will be posted in the area, but drivers should expect delays until the crossing reopens at 7 a.m. Oct. 18, Metra said in a news release.
Village officials are urging drivers to use different routes to bypassing the area entirely.
A second Metra crossing will close later in the month near Howard Street and Lehigh Avenue. Beginning at 7 a.m. Oct. 23, the crossing will close and is expected to reopen at 7 a.m. Nov. 1, according to the village’s release.
