An infant died Sunday after suffering an injury in an Oak Lawn home, police said.
Police responded to a call of an armed subject in the 6600 block of 91st Street in Oak Lawn about 10:45 a.m. Sunday. On the way there, officers received information that an infant had “suffered a significant injury,” according to a statement from the Oak Lawn Police department.
After life-support measures were performed on the scene, the infant was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where the baby was pronounced dead at 1:48 p.m., police said.
Police think the parents left the infant in the care of a relative and were not in the house at the time of the incident.
Police were releasing few specifics, but after relatives indicated that a family member was involved in the death, that person was taken into custody, police said. Oak Lawn Police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force were investigating.
