A Chicago man was charged Thursday with shooting a bartender outside a Little Village tavern Wednesday night.

Adolfo Zuniga, 27, of the 2900 block of West 25th Place, was taken into custody Wednesday night. He was charged with aggravated battery and use of a deadly weapon, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department.

About 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, a 29-year-old bartender was outside a bar in the 2600 block of West 24th Street when Zuniga allegedly walked up and shot him twice, police said.

The bartender was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and groin, police said.

Zuniga was detained after officers on patrol saw him running from the scene, police said.
