A man attempted to abduct a teenage girl Friday in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said.
The man, who was driving a black Nissan, honked his horn and called to a 14-year-old girl who was walking to a store at the corner of Madison and Central at 9:30 a.m. Friday, according to an alert from Area North detectives.
The man followed the girl into the store and spoke to her again outside, the alert said.
When the girl tried to walk away, the man pulled on her arm, the alert said. She broke free and the man fled in his car.
