1 dead, 15 wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday

A man was killed and 15 people have been injured in shootings across the city since Friday afternoon — including four people shot near a South Side elementary school, along a Safe Passage route.
Marcus Rush, 19, of the 2600 block of South King Drive, was shot about 7:15 p.m. Saturday near Morgan and 70th in the Englewood neighborhood, officials said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and died just after 2 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Four people were shot about 11:10 p.m. Friday in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side. Three men and a teenager were standing on the sidewalk in the 6000 block of South Indiana when a dark-color sedan drove by and someone inside started shooting, police said.
The shooting happened along what Chicago Public Schools lists on its website as a Safe Passage route near the Dulles School of Excellence. A 22-year-old man shot in the left calf and upper back and taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said. A 16-year-old boy shot in the right thigh and an 18-year-old man shot in the hand were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said. A 21-year-old man shot in the left leg was taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Centers, police said.
The most recent nonfatal shooting happened about 3:45 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of East 67th Street. A man thought to be 24 was shot in the right thigh. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.
A 48-year-old man was shot in the shoulder about 4:50 a.m. Sunday in the 8000 block of South Loomis in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, and a suspect in the shooting was in custody, police said.
A man in his 20s was shot in the leg was shot about 10 p.m. Saturday in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side. The man was shot in the 4700 block of North Sacramento and was taken in good condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.
A 39-year-old man was shot during an argument about 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the 1600 block of South Karlov on the West Side. The person he was arguing with pulled out a gun and shot him, police said. He was listed in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
About 7:30 a.m. Saturday, a 44-year-old man was shot in an alley in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said. The man was leaving a garage in the 2300 block of North Mango when a gunman got out of a black, four-door sedan and opened fire, police said. The man was shot twice in the buttocks and taken in good condition to Illinois Masonic.
A 19-year-old man was in the front passenger seat of a van in the 8400 block of South Burnham in the South Chicago neighborhood when someone started shooting about 3 a.m. Saturday, police said. He was shot in the left buttock and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
A 21-year-old man was shot in the foot about 12:20 a.m. Saturday in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said. He was standing outside with his girlfriend in the 4800 block of West Monroe where he heard gunfire. He was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, police said.
About 10:10 p.m. Friday, a 16-year-old boy was shot while crossing a street in the South Shore neighborhood, police said. He was in the 1600 block of East 71st Street when a male shooter approached and fired at him, police said. He was shot in the shoulder and buttocks and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
About 8:30 p.m. Friday, a 20-year-old woman was shot in the hand and her cheek was grazed by a bullet when someone fired at a car full of people in the Chatham neighborhood. The victim and three other women were sitting in the vehicle parked in the 7500 block of South St. Lawrence when a shooter came out of a gangway and opened fire, police said. The injured woman was taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. Nobody else was hurt in the shooting.
The weekend’s first shooting occurred about 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Little Village neighborhood. An 18-year-old man was shot in the chest and both legs and a 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg on the street in the 4100 block of West 24th Place, police said. They were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Area detectives were investigating all of the shootings.
