95-year-old man struck, killed by train in Mount Prospect

MOUNT PROSPECT — A 95-year-old man was struck by a Metra train and killed Wednesday morning near northwest suburban Mount Prospect.
The man, possibly a bicyclist, was hit about 7:50 a.m. by an inbound train on Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line, Metra spokesman Tom Miller said. The train had left Barrington at 7:27 a.m.
Some trains were delayed up to two hours. Service on the line was restored about 10 a.m., according to Metra’s website.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed a 95-year-old man was struck and killed. His name had not been released.
Metra and Mount Prospect police are investigating.
