A Loop bank was robbed Tuesday morning, minutes after the same man may have tried to rob another bank just a block away, authorities said.
A man entered the Harris Bank branch at 111 W. Monroe St. about 9:47 a.m., approached a teller and implied he had a weapon, authorities said.
He left with an unknown amount of cash and fled on foot southbound on LaSalle, police said. No one is in custody.
About 15 minutes earlier, a “suspicious” man entered a PNC Bank branch at 55 W. Monroe, but fled after he was approached by bank personnel, authorities said.
The robber is described as a 5-foot-9 black man in his late 50s or early 60s with brown eyes, according to the FBI. He was wearing a blue button-down shirt with a white shirt underneath and a ball cap.
Police and the FBI are investigating.
