Mom and daughter strangled, burned bodies found in car trunk

A mother and daughter from Chicago were found strangled in the trunk of a burning car Saturday night in a Palos Park forest preserve, authorities said.
The charred bodies were found about 11:45 p.m. Saturday in the trunk of a Chrysler PT Cruiser in the Cap Sauers Holdings Nature Preserve in the 11600 block of Ford Road in Palos Park, authorities said.
Cook County Sheriff’s police spokesman Benjamin Breit said the victims have been identified as a woman in her 70s and her daughter, who was in her 50s. He declined to release their identifies, citing an ongoing investigation.
Palos Park fire crews were initially called to the burning car and found the bodies in the trunk, Breit said.
An autopsy Sunday determined they had died of strangulation and their deaths were ruled homicides, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Sheriff’s police are investigating and declined to comment about suspects.
