Both were handed prison terms last month. The auction runs through Sept. 26. (AP Photo/Courtesy Gaston & Sheehan Auctioneers, Inc.)

JACKSON JR. AUCTION ITEMS FAKE?

Some of the celebrity items former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. pleaded guilty to buying with campaign funds might be fakes, the U.S. Marshals Service said, canceling the auction of the items.

Concerns over the authenticity of a guitar signed by Michael Jackson and Eddie Van Halen prompted the cancellation, the U.S. Marshals said in a statement.

“After receiving legitimate concerns about the authenticity of the guitar
. . . the Marshals Service will conduct a secondary review of all the assets,” the U.S. Marshals said.

Last month, the former 2nd District congressman was sentenced to 2 and a half years behind bars for stealing $750,0000 from his campaign fund while his wife, former Ald. Sandi Jackson (7th), is to serve one year for filing false tax returns.
